Its been a long time in the making but in 2019, Zephyr Tours launches its most audacious kite adventure yet.
In typical Zephyr style, this tour will have you exploring the spectacular Alaskan Chugach mountain range with the worlds #1 snowkiter and Aussie legend Jennie Milton.
Imagine carving the first tracks up the mountain and boosting down the other side, then pulling a long downwinder through the knee-deep fresh powder all the way back to the RV’s for a recharge.
The snowkiting options are endless here, but the activities don’t stop there, you might like to try your hand at ice fishing, fat biking or maybe even a guided glacier walk. Whatever the activity, you’ll always return to the comfort of a log fire and Budweiser.
Valdez is known for world-class heliskiing, and yes, if you’re game, we will make it happen!
To cap off this amazing tour, you’ll be taking the ferry home along the famous Alaskan water highway to view it’s many wildlife surprises.
With expert guidance from our professional team of competitive snow kiters, forecasters, snow safety specialists, heliskiing guides and kitesurf instructors, this is guaranteed to be one of the most unique holidays any kiter can experience.

VALDEZ, ALASKA
Valdez is the snowiest city in the United States. With an average of 300 inches of snow per year and sitting at sea level below the spectacular Chugach mountain range, and the infamous Thompsons pass, there are limitless kite spots all within 40miles of the town.
In the summer months, Valdez turns into an adventure wonderland with abundant wildlife, walks, fishing and many more warm adventure opportunities. In the cold dead of winter, the city shuts down, the bears hibernate, and the fires are continually stoked but come Spring, this is where the magic happens.
By mid-Spring, the snow is still falling, and the winds are becoming steady and enjoyable, to allowing us to explore the endless mountain range by kite.

On this tour, you’ll enjoy full action-packed days of exploring the best snowkiting locations the world has to offer in and around the Alaskan town of Valdez and the Chugach Mountains.

The Cuisine
With a full-time cook, you’ll have healthy, hearty snacks and lunches served daily in the comfort of the RV’s slope-side. Big healthy breakfasts will be available in-house or en-route while dinners will be a mix of social nights with the local townspeople, home-cooked halibut feasts or pizzas and burgers all washed down with Budweiser’s, water or wine. You choose.
Where we stay
We’ve chosen you the best accommodation possible to ensure a good nights sleep each night and the perfect place to unwind after a day on the pass.
The brand new Totem Suites in the city of Valdez will be your first accommodation for this tour. Your room will be either a plush king bed if you’re bringing your partner or twin double beds for singles. Here you can take it easy in the bar or work out in the gym or pool.
For the second half of our stay, we will be living it up at Tsaina Lodge with the kiting right on your doorstep.
This is the hub for all snowkiting and heliskiing adventures. Comfortable rooms and huge beds again will be well-appreciated, and the bar and restaurant is the best in town.

Getting there
You will make your own way to Anchorage where you’ll meet the team and stay the night before we head to Valdez. This is a good chance to arrange any last-minute equipment and get ready for the following days flight to Valdez.
We will let you know closer to the date which accommodation we will be in with airport transfers both way included.
If you have time, we recommend you arrive early to explore more of Alaska, get over any jetlag and even get in a day or two of riding in at the Alyeska resort close to Anchorage.
At the end of the tour, you’ll have airport transfers from our last hotel to the Ted Stevens airport for your homebound flight.

TOUR BONUS
It wouldn’t be an Alaskan holiday if you didn’t see the orca, whales, fjords, and glaciers so for the return trip, it’s a ferry ride with the RV’s back to Whittier then a short drive to Anchorage where you’ll enjoy the last night with the team.
