Description of Position and Duties

At Zephyr Tours, we deliver an immersive and fully inclusive kitesurfing tour package, which includes unlimited coaching, fun activities, transport, food, and more. For the duration of the 10-day tour, from the moment our guests are picked up in the morning, until bedtime each evening, our team provides an action-packed adventure with exceptional customer service to all our guests while ensuring they stay stoked and progress out on the water.

We are looking for a passionate and skilled videographer/editor who will join our customers on tour in the Cocos Islands, you can learn or progress your kiting skills and experience everything a Zephyr Tour offers with the end goal help us capture on film what makes a Zephyr Tour so special. We want you to fully immerse yourself in the tour environment and connect with the unique culture of the Cocos Islands. We are looking for someone who can use their exceptional creative videography skills to help capture the true essence of what it means to be on a Zephyr Tour. We are looking for someone with an engaging personality to connect with our guests and make them feel comfortable and look natural while in front of the camera.

The right candidate will be self-motivated and able to push the creative boundaries of water-sport videography. You will be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as work independently and draw from your own experience and passion to create engaging content with purpose on a day-in and day-out basis. The videographer/editor is responsible for producing high-quality video content for Zephyr Tours designed for online marketing purposes on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

In return, Zephyr Tours will provide return flights from Perth to Cocos, food, and accommodation, the opportunity to learn to kitesurf, and an amazing holiday experience in a tropical paradise, valued at $8K.

Responsibilities:

  • Shoot, edit and deliver high-quality video content of all kiting and non-kiting activities conducted while on a Zephyr Tour.
  • Edit engaging and entertaining video content for social media content and online advertising.
  • Shoot, edit and deliver behind-the-scenes content and interviews with guests.
  • Collaborate with Zephyr management to create and execute ideas for the team’s objectives.
  • Produce content in a variety of styles and techniques and ensure Zephyr Tours branding is implemented throughout.
  • Review, proof, and edit content with a critical eye.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Must be able to make decisions quickly while coping with stress, resulting from a variety of circumstances.
  • Adherence to Zephyr Tours code of conduct and quality standards.
  • Reporting to managers and the ability to take on feedback.

Task-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Film approximately 2-4 hours each day, capturing key moments shots.
  • Video content review with management to make sure we have all the shots.
  • Within 6 weeks of the tour end date, edit and produce the final products as listed below:
    • Edit/produce a 3-minute promotional video with music/text over screen.
    • Edit/produce a 5-8 minute behind the scenes video, with narration by management promoting what you get on a Zephyr Tour.
    • Edit/produce a 1-minute promotional video for use in an international market.
    • Edit/produce 2 x 30-second promo videos for use on social media advertising.
      • 1 x focus on beginner experience and progression
      • 1 x focus on tour experience as a whole

Essential Criteria:

  • Passionate about and have experience in water-sport videography.
  • A passion for engaging audiences, working with others, storytelling, thinking outside the box, and pushing the creative boundaries of sports video content.
  • Excellent communication skills with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to travel to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, W.A. for a designated period of 2-3 weeks during our tour season (July – September 2022; specific dates TBC).
  • Experience working with guests in a service capacity while in a professional setting.
  • Proficient in video editing programs, (Adobe Premiere preferable).
  • Proven ability to skilfully fly a drone, (Own drone not essential).
  • Ability to lead and execute projects from concept to completion.
  • Ability to work independently, be resourceful, and show initiative in a remote environment.
  • Work samples are required.
  • Currently based in Australia.

Desirable:

  • Own camera equipment and drone.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Required to work outdoors in the sun and wind for long periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to shoot video while being on a small vessel on the water.

As a volunteer kite instructor/guide, your role is to help provide and deliver unique kiteboarding-focused experiences for all our guests. You will assist in every aspect of the tour operation, from teaching and coaching kiteboarding, transport and logistics, cleaning and maintenance, all while socialising with our clients and creating an exceptional tour experience.

When out on the water or riding with our clients, your role is to inspire and encourage our clients, while constantly looking for opportunities to offer beneficial coaching tips and pointers to help get each guest stoked on kitesurfing. You will be using an array of coaching methods, including one-to-one lessons, coaching clinics and tutorials, and coaching from in the boat, both on and off the water. To help with these, radio headsets are supplied and recommended to be used for communication with clients on the water, while video cameras are available to film clients in aid of constructive and timely feedback.

The appropriate candidate will be a skilled individual who is passionate about kiteboarding, flexible, resourceful, and proactive in their approach. They must be confident, have a strong work ethic, and possess initiative, all the while helping to deliver the best kiteboarding and customer-focused experience possible.

For the duration of the 10-day tour, from the moment out guests are picked up in the morning, until bedtime each evening, every member of the team is expected to help provide exceptional customer service to our guests while ensuring that each day runs as smoothly as possible while adhering to all time checkpoints and schedules.

As the tour cook/chef, your role is to provide and deliver healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for all our guests and the team daily. You will help create the tour meal plan for each 10-day tour while working with the available food options on any given day. Your creativity is essential to stay within a budget, prepare, transport and serve the food at various locations around the island. You will be responsible for shopping, ordering online, booking food providers on island, stocktaking, liaising with management on daily scheduling to deliver the meals on time.

When out on the water or riding with our clients, your role is to inspire, encourage, and help get each guest stoked on kitesurfing.

Behind the scenes and away from our clients, you may be required to perform tasks essential to the preparation and set-up of each tour, including maintenance, cleaning, food prep, early starts, late evenings and more.

The appropriate candidate will be a skilled individual who is flexible, resourceful, and creative when preparing food. They must be confident in producing delicious meals and snacks using a basic kitchen, gas burner BBQ, with limited food availability and who has an eye presentation. The right candidate will be responsible for the catering needs for up to 20 pax, between 2-3 meals each day. They must be able to utilise local businesses for food supplies, ingredients and meals to deliver an enhanced culinary experience for our clients. The ideal candidate must have a passion for the sport of kitesurfing with the ability to kite with our clients and share the stoke. 

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the whole catering operation from start to finish.
  • Production and delivery of 2-3 meals each day for the duration of each 10-day tour.
  • Responsible for adhering to the company’s quality standards.
  • Control of budgeting, stock control and purchasing of food products.
  • Management of the staff-house kitchen and fridges, along with the use and allocation of food.
  • Responsible for the active and constant application of all safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of kitchen, utensils and crockery.
  • Reporting to managers and taking on feedback.

Pre-requisites:

  • Professional experience working in the food industry (Certificate III Commercial Cookery qualification or above highly regarded)
